I discovered The Lenzing Group few years ago by pure chance, as they sponsored the TexWorld in New York, in the same hotel I was staying at. At the time, I wasn’t there for the textile fair, but I welcomed the surprise and I took the time to visit.
At the Expo I learned about the Modal and Tencel fibers, and started to look for them in products on the market. I discovered that quite a few famous brands such as Calvin Klein or Donna Karan, are currently using blends of traditional fibers and Modal or Tencel, and I purchased those items to check out.
I was pleasantly surprised that the advertised qualities were actually true and became an enthusiast supporter of the above fibers! Recently I learnded that, finally, there are suppliers of the raw material on our continent (USA and Canada), as opposed to Asia, and they sell in small enough quantities for small businesses to experiment with.
Even more, there are new blends available, and new fibers developed based on the original Modal and Tencel, such as ProModal and Tencel C, the new age fiber with oceanic skin care complex. Tencel C features oceanic micro particles which, in touch with the skin, provide a cell-renewing effect, also acting as a moisturizer and skin protector. Pure cosmetic from textile! And which girl is immune to that?...
It is obvious that I’m a fan, right? None of these materials are yet available to the public, mostly because the big fabric stores don’t know much about them so far, but I believe they will become as common in our wardrobe as the eco bulb is in our houses. With an eye to the future, I encourage you to learn more at www.lenzing.com. I am in no way affiliated with the company, and I’m not making any profit from advertising their product, but look out for the labels in the stores and try for yourself. You will be as amazed as I was, I assure you!
